Highlights
In order to change the colour of the strand, hydrogen peroxide and pigment are combined in hair Highlights. Lowlights are also added to the hair using this method. This procedure involves using hair dyes to produce hair strands that are darker than their original colour.
What chemicals are used in
Many hair dyes use a system of ammonia (or ethanolamines in the case of some ammonia-free formulations), hydrogen peroxide, and p-phenylenediamine to produce a permanent colour. In order for the colour to reach the hair shaft, the ammonia separates layers of the hair’s protein structure.
